Illustrated Uchiwa Fan
Uchiwa fan illustrated by Japanese artist Takuya Kawaguchi and made by the Kurikawa workshop, the last remaining manufacturer of this type of fan in the Kutami district of Yamaga, on the island of Kyushu. Each fan is handmade from Japanese washi paper coated with persimmon tannin and attached to a bamboo handle, which makes the paper strong and durable, as well as protecting it from insects.
