Five monkeys huddle together. Usable as both a paperweight and a figurine, this piece is designed by Tadahiro Baba, a leading figure in cast iron object design. It combines strength, durability, and the expressive style characteristic of the artist. On the back of each monkey is an expression of the Japanese pictorial maxim embodying the proverb: “attach to nothing (have), see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, think no evil.”
Tadahiro Baba, born in Nagano in 1930, creates metal objects for everyday life, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern expression.
