Yunomi Cup – Floating Weeds
From the silver screen to the ceramic kiln
Pre-order: this item will be dispatched from the end of November 2024
Using our Yunomi cups as narrative canvases, French illustrator Tom Haugomat dives into two cult scenes from Yasujirō Ozu’s films released in 1959, Floating Weeds and Good Morning. In the first, illustrated here, a theatre company returns to a small fishing village in southern Japan.
Our first design entirely produced in-house, Yunomi cups are versatile shapes that can be used as tea or coffee cups, pen holders or planters. Their generous capacity means that you can enjoy beverages in a unique, hand-crafted piece. Each cup is illustrated by an international artist and is available in matching pairs.
The cobalt-blue and vermilion-red decoration is hand-transferred onto a ceramic base specially designed for this collection. Each piece has unique variations in colour and thickness.
