An adorable lucky charm

These folk toys are moulded and painted by hand by the artisans of the Tsuyazaki workshop, which has been based in Fukutsu (Fukuoka) for over 200 years. Each piece is made individually using a blend of local clay and natural pigments.

Featuring the fox messenger of the god Inari, deity of harvests and trade, it is depicted holding a fire symbol between its paws, which is considered a good luck charm.
